How to set up payments on your Vesse store.

Vesse supports two payment modes. This guide explains both, helps you choose the right one, and walks you through the exact setup steps.

Which payment mode is right for you?

Vesse Pay

Recommended for new stores

No PayFast account needed
Works immediately after adding bank details
Vesse collects payments via iKhokha on your behalf
Weekly Friday EFT payout to your bank account
Vesse handles all reconciliation

Choose this if you're just starting out, don't have an existing PayFast account, or want to be selling the same day you sign up.

Own PayFast

For established merchants

Requires an existing PayFast merchant account
Payments settle directly to your PayFast wallet
PayFast merchant verification takes 1–2 weeks
You manage your own PayFast dashboard
No extra Vesse processing fee on top

Choose this if you already have a verified PayFast merchant account and want payments to go directly to you without a weekly wait.

Setting up Vesse Pay

No PSP account needed. Just add your bank details and you're live.

1

Go to your store dashboard → Store settings → Payments tab.

2

Vesse Pay is selected by default. If it isn't, click the Vesse Pay radio button — it saves automatically.

3

The bank details form will appear below. Enter your bank name, account holder name, account number, and branch code.

4

Click "Save bank details". You'll see a green confirmation — your store is now ready to publish.

5

Click Publish. Your store is live and accepting payments immediately.

6

Every Friday, your earnings from all paid orders are transferred to your bank account via EFT.

Vesse Pay fees at a glance

Free plan: 5% platform fee + 1.5% iKhokha processing = 6.5% total.
Growth plan: 3% + 1.5% = 4.5% total.
Scale plan: 2% + 1.5% = 3.5% total.
These are deducted before your Friday payout. No monthly surprises.

Setting up Own PayFast

You'll need your Merchant ID, Merchant Key, and Passphrase from your PayFast dashboard.

1

Log in to your PayFast account at payfast.co.za.

2

Go to Settings → Merchant Details. Copy your Merchant ID and Merchant Key.

3

Go to Settings → Passphrase. Set a passphrase if you haven't already, and copy it.

4

In Vesse, go to your store settings → Payments tab. Click the "Own PayFast account" radio button.

5

The PayFast credentials form will slide open. Paste your Merchant ID, Merchant Key, and Passphrase, then click "Connect PayFast".

6

Once connected, a green "Connected" status will appear. You can now publish your store.

7

Place a small test order on your store to confirm payments are landing correctly in your PayFast dashboard.

Keep your PayFast credentials private. Never share your Merchant Key or Passphrase. Vesse stores them encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM — they're never visible to anyone, including the Vesse team.

Payment FAQs

When do I get paid on Vesse Pay?

Every Friday. Your balance from all paid and confirmed orders is transferred to your bank account via EFT. You'll see your pending balance in your store dashboard under Payouts.

What are the Vesse Pay fees exactly?

Vesse Pay charges a platform fee (5% on Free, 3% on Growth, 2% on Scale) plus iKhokha's 1.5% processing fee. This is deducted before your Friday payout — there are no hidden charges.

Can I switch between Vesse Pay and Own PayFast?

Yes, any time. Go to store settings → Payments and change the mode. It saves immediately. Existing orders are not affected — they settle via whichever mode was active when the order was placed.

Can I publish my store without setting up payments?

No. A payment method must be configured before you can publish. On Vesse Pay, this means saving your bank details. On Own PayFast, this means connecting your PayFast credentials.

What if a customer wants a refund?

On Vesse Pay, contact us at phenyokoikoi3@gmail.com and we process the refund from the Vesse iKhokha account. On Own PayFast, log in to your PayFast dashboard and issue the refund directly from there.

Does Own PayFast have a setup wait time?

Only if you don't have a PayFast merchant account yet. PayFast merchant verification takes 1–2 weeks. If you already have a verified PayFast account, connecting it to Vesse takes under 5 minutes.
